Default Snow Leopard or Not?

Hi,

I'd be very grateful if someone could give me a couple of pointers here. I'm currently running an LE 8.0.4 system on a macbook pro(specs below) but am upgrading to an imac 3.06gHz with 8gbs of RAM.

My question is; if I go with 64 bit Snow Leopard am I going to run into problems with 32 bit LE? Am I better off installing Leopard 10.5.8 on my new mac?

Thanks in advance for any help,

I run snow leopard with no problems. Currently I'm running 10.6.3. It also appears that 8.0.4 is qualified on 10.6.4, although there was no real announcement. Its on the compatibility page.

Snow Leopard here with 10.6.4 and 8.0.4

I upgraded my system to 10.6.4, and it's worked flawlessly. I kept my 10.5 install on an external drive with PTLE 8.0.1, so I can still use my, now ancient, original Mbox.

Running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 in 64 bit mode and Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 ... Smooth as glass for me

Know that Pro Tools itself is only 32 bit so it won't be able to access all of your RAM by itself, but it will run fine in Snow Leopard. Other programs running separately will be able to access more RAM though.

I had to get used to hitting Command-S more often since upgrading to Snow, as I am experiencing PT crashing (never before).

I just received my SL upgrade today. Reading this thread is encouraging.
I think I'm about to run out the door to grab a new internal drive and start fresh.
