saving error message
"Another user has this session open". ain' no other user but me.
"Please save as a new session to continue saving changes" Which I try and get this. "Could not save " …." Because Permission denied (13) while opening "…….." Restarted. No change. Has anyone seen this before and have a fix? PT 2021.3. on Big Sur

Re: saving error message
tried clearing prefs.
tried opening other unrelated sessions. re-permissioned ~Docs/Pro Tools ~Docs/Pro Tools/Project Cache Onyx'd zapped pRam. Tried direct connect to Mini. New Cable. same error. so it appears to be a PT app error having nothing to do with the session. time to re-install? it's been at least a month.

Re: saving error message
I would try to copy the session to a non shared local drive. A LAN drive can be accessed by another computer or the file kept open by another computer.

Re: saving error message
Moving to the int drive does fix the issue.
However ... the LAN is local to me. No one has access. And I've been on this session for a couple weeks (and others) on the LAN'd drive.

Re: saving error message
Then I suspect something is causing the LAN to flag the file as being "in use" for some reason or another. Perhaps you exited it once and it did not release it properly. Hence it continues to be flagged as in use when you try to write to it. The fact that it works in the internals drive would make me think it is not a Protools issue but a network (LAN) issue.

pretty sure that happened with that session. But definitely not other sessions on external drives. Any idea how to remedy the issue?

Re: saving error message
I also tried direct connect of the drive to the Mini.
No change. So there would be no LAN error there.

Re: saving error message
It's been a while since I did network administration work but a LAN usually handles locking files that are in use by a user using flags at the OS level. There is usually a type of File Allocation Table that writes the attributes for each file on the LAN. This is necessary to prevent two users from updating the same file simultaneously and not know which update to write. Obviously things have gotten more advanced nowadays where cloud based networks are able to support simultaneous updates better (ie. Google Docs) but I don't know if local (LAN)s are similar.
You might try opening your session and make a duplicate via "save as" to see if it writes a new file without the lock on. Hope that helps.
