Default Sure Beta 52

Can anyone get a good sound from a Beta 52? I've tried a million things and am convinced that either my mic is busted, or its just a terrible kick mic. I get really weak positive half-cycles and normal negative half-cycles. Its been like this since I bought it, so I don't know if it has more potential. I am so upset at myself for saving $15 and going with the 52 instead of the D112.

Sounds like you got a bad mic. We use the 52 quite alot, and it sounds good right off the mic preamp, and in most cases never gets eq'd as it sounds so good once the right spot is obtained.

Take the previous posters suggestion and take it back to the point of purchase. It is worth getting one that works properly.

Hi

I've been using the B52 in studio and in live music situations for three years now, and I've always got great results: it really captures the kick tone, and doesn't need much EQ since it's own frequency response it's already tailored to the kick drum. Make sure yours isn't working properly, and once you'll have it fixed you won't miss the D112 at all.
