002R and M-Audio...

Ok, I was planning on getting a 002R and using my friend's M-Audio Delta 1010's with it for more inputs. Now I know that you can use units like these with the 002...such as the Focusrite OctoPre using ADAT on the two units...but I'm curious if I can run the Deltas with the 002. If I can, would I be able to use the 002 AND the two 1010's? Or would it be the 002 and just one 1010? If I can use both 1010's, how would I hook them up...also if I can use two, could I use three? Making 32 total tracks...possible? Thanks.

Please explain if you could in more detail, as far as the reasons why it won't work. And I'm guessing that I would have to get something like an OctoPre to get 16 tracks then? Would it be possible to run two OctoPre's? Thanks.

No. The 002/002r have 8 analog I/O, 8 lightpipe I/O, and 2 s/pdif I/O to make 18 I/O total. The deltas are PCI card based units. The deltas can be used with Pro Tools MPowered, but they have even less I/O.

The only way you are going to get more than 18 simultaneous I/O with Pro Tools is to purchase the HD system. Pro Tools LE = 18 I/O period. Pro Tools MPowered (with the MAudio 1814) = 18 inputs, 4 outputs. Period.

something like the OctoPre, yes. Many people opt for the Presonus Digimax LT instead.
