PT8HD G5 iLok Extensions Missing
Hey guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me out in a pinch here. I've installed a G5 with HD8.0.3 onto a clients system running 10.5. Everything worked perfectly for the last few weeks, and this morning I can't open up Pro Tools - a message that says "Required Software Extensions Are Missing", which refers to iLok. iLok page only offers a download for OS 10.5 (Intel Only), so what am I to do here? The only archived download they offer is for Tiger, which I've installed and doesn't seem to work... Any advice? How did it work find for 3 weeks and now just suddenly stop the next day? Any fast help much appreciated. Thanks! Sig |

Re: PT8HD G5 iLok Extensions Missing
Nah, no one else has been on this computer.
I've trashed prefs and reinstalled the Tiger version, still no go! There must have been an iLok version that was meant for a G5 10.5, no?? Nothing has been installed or updated as far as I've been concerned. We were in here tracking drums all day yesterday without a hitch, and now today nothing...the computer is on the latest install of 10.5, and everything was working fine as of yesterday - I'm the only one who has access to it, so no one else could have used it or installed anything without my knowledge. Does anyone have any other legacy installers sitting on their computers or archives? Thanks so much for the help! Sig |

Re: PT8HD G5 iLok Extensions Missing
Ok, I think I kinda tricked it...I installed a V6 waves plugin (which they have the license for, Gold) and I recall they install iLok software everytime you install their plugs. It seems to have done the trick??
but...it only does it if I open up Pro Tools right away. If I restart, I get the "Missing Extensions" message again... What on earth is this?? |

Re: PT8HD G5 iLok Extensions Missing
I did not see one, but I'll take a look again.
Could this be potentially motherboard battery related? I'm getting an "update boot cache" message each time I shut down the computer - this never happened before either. I've read that the time accurately showing on the top left of the finder is not an indication of battery life on the G5. Thanks, Sig |

Re: PT8HD G5 iLok Extensions Missing
Ok, new battery. Also reset the PMU. Nothing. Still has a problem with these extensions. iLok has not returned any emails.
WTF? This is unacceptable. I don't care if it's an old computer with old HD cards in there. The software should work and this should not be happening. Any other suggestions here? Thanks, Sig Last edited by Siegfried Meier; 02-20-2014 at 10:15 AM. |
