Default How to customise outputs in I/O settings

I'm sure I'm missing something easy here, but how do I customise my output settings? I don't need anything complicated, just 1,2,3,4, etc .... all mono if possible ..

I've just got a Soundcraft Signature MTK 22 and naively thought that the tracks would come up on the faders in order as they are on the Mix Window .... but of course it's not as simple as that, the output of each channel needs to be assigned to an output that corresponds with the input on the mixer .....

So how do I do this? Is there a template I can import for this somewhere?

I seem to have some stereo outputs (1-2, 7-8, etc ), sometimes with mono options, but with no 3-4 or 5-6 .... and when I do manage to alter things in the I/O menu I still can't get the mono options for these stereo outputs... is there a way I can customise the I/O so that track 1 is OP 1, and so on ....

While messing about with this I've also noticed that sometimes I come up with 'Analogue 1', etc ..... how does that happen? They still show up on the Soundcraft though ....

I'd appreciate any help!

Default Re: How to customise outputs in I/O settings/

Once you master the grid matrix, you can customize as you see fit. You can even delete every path and create your own(although your main output needs to remain in place and in stereo).[

Notice that my inputs are labeled according to the mic preamp for each input. Of course, your needs and setup may be totally different, but you get the idea. Once you have things arranged as you like, Export the settings, and do yourself a favor and export to a second location as well, or copy the file. The reason for this is; at some future date, you may decide(or need) to uninstall Pro Tools and when you do, it may well also remove your exported settings. By saving a copy somewhere else, you will always have it available. For me, I keep a folder on my desktop named Pro Tools Settings, and in that folder are my IO setup, midi studio setup and copies of all my session and track templates.

Thanks for that, I managed to achieve exactly what I wanted ... for now anyway! ... and good tip about saving the I/O settings in a separate place.
