Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
HELP!!! I keep trying to open my Pro Tools 8.0.3 and it keeps freezing on me. Sometimes the sessions open up but I would not get any output or input through my Mbox. Also, when I have the Mbox conected I can't open my System Preferences cause it crashes, I can't open any other program neither. I tried opening GarageBand and it crashes, I tried opening my internet browser and it crashes. PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm really new to this and i have no idea why my new system is doing this.
Thanks! |

Can you tell us a bit more about your system and the symptoms? Which computer model is this? Where in the load process does it stop?

Re: Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
Sounds like you have a plugin compatibility problem. I would start by moving all third party plugins into your unused folder and try again. I all works, start putting each plugin back in (one at a time) and retest. Once you find the plugins that don't work, you can research if there is an update. In general you should update your plugins to the latest version. You should also check the plugin compatibility grid on this website.

Re: Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
I did and from what I thought, everything should be working fine with my Pro Tools and the Imac 27 inch. About the pug ins I just did a clean installation. I didn;t install any third party plug ins and the same things is still happening. I'm trying to see if changing my external hard drive would do anything for me.

Have you seen my thread, sounds like the same symptoms.
http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=261596 The workaround is included. Digi is aware of the issue.

Re: Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
I to have purchase apple new 27" iMac the only difference is I have i7 Quad Core 8GBs of Ram running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and my external drive is a Lacie 1TB firewire 800 drive with USB and what not. I have pro tools le 8 8.0.3 w/ mbox 2 But my porblem is, sometimes it loads other times it doesn't and if it does load once in the session if I try to click on anything the program stop responding and anything else I touch after does the same. I have uninstall and reinstall le 8 over 6 times and it only worked about 2 or 3 times and that was when I first installed it. I even called for technical support and the person I spoked to couldn't even help me. We tried using a wired mouse, we try reseting the 'p' and 'r' keys turning of the airport and bluetooth and nothing worked. When we first started he had me save a session to my firewire drive but once inside the session pro tools would stop responding. I need this to work because I also have avid and in order for me to have them on the same computer I have to install pro tools le 8 first and then avid. I forgot to mention that I followed the instruction on how to co-install the two and ever since I did that pro tools just went down hill for me so can someone PLEASE HELP ME.

Re: Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
Dear Digi Design -
Old computer dies. upgrade to a new mac. Find out i can't get my old Pro Tools 7.3.1 to work on Snow Leopard. Fair enough. I'll fork out the $150 for the latest version of Pro Tools. but hang on - i see that to make Pro Tools work i'll have to get 8.0.3 and that doesn't work on my Mbox1... So - i'll have to buy a brand new Mbox2 and throw away a perfectly healthy, working, faithful AND comparable older Mbox. No way. After having the phone jockey give me a snippy lecture on the inevitable obsolescence of new technologies i came away feeling more than condescended to and ambivalent about what had been a great relationship to a really useful product. Bummer. back to Logic. |

Re: Problem with my Mbox 2, Pro Tools 8.0.3 & Snow Lepard
Sounds similar
I bought an IMAC 27" love it but my MBox 2 Pro running firewire could be a problem, I to have to buy Protools 8.03, I have not done so yet, someone said you have to put a hard drive between Mbox and computer , I bought a 400 to 800 firewire cable, so will be interesting to see if I can get running once I download 8. Technology is great but sometimes can bit you in the Ass. |
