Default PT Ultimate subscription questions

Hello,
We have a bunch of PT-Ultimate perpetual licenses across multiple accounts, mostly attached to HDX systems and a few for CoreAudio use. They are updated with the support plan every year.
Occasionally we have a temporary need for more PT-Ultimate licenses. We evaluated the pricing between perpetual and subscription and I have a couple of questions regarding a subscription.

If we determine that we need an ultimate license for a short time are there any drawbacks to paying for one month of subscription (except for the high monthly price)?

Are there any drawbacks to signing up for a month, letting it run out, and several months later signing up for another month all on the same account and the same ilok? This is assuming the monthly versus yearly numbers work out.

These systems are deployed on a range of OSs and ProTools versions. With a subscription what is the range of ProTools versions I can run from that subscription ilok authorization? I saw a forum post from tope_d, apparently an avid employee, who said a subscription authorized versions 2020 on. Is that accurate?

Thanks for any assistance.
Hugh

No. You do end up with a ton of expired subscriptions in your My.Avid account (and Avid Link) but that's the only annoyance. On the iLok, you can just move those expired ones to hidden (no such way on my.avid.) We have an account for these "temporary" authorizations and there must be 40 in that my.avid account now so you have to scroll a bunch to find the active ones.
But it's just an annoyance.

Can't answer your last question. We're usually only up to max 3 macOS versions apart on our systems and all recent Pro Tools can run on that much difference (black trash can macs that lost macOS support at Monterey are our oldest now and they run the latest Pro Tools)

Yes, it should be able to run 2018(the first version that was launched when the iLok Cloud function was introduced) up to the latest version available. You can download older installers from the Avid Download Center inside my.avid.com

Hello BScout and tope_d,

Thank you for the responses I appreciate it. We may have (?) just moved our oldest from 2018 to PT2020, the ability to authorize from 2018 on is useful just in case.

Great idea to have a separate account for the temp licenses, our existing accounts already have a confusing array of previous upgrades and transfers (v9 to 10, 10 to 11, upgrades, transfers, etc.).

Sincerely,
Hugh
