Default Connection issues with Windows 11 desktop

I'm getting the "Unable to add surface" error when I try to connect to my Avid Doc and S1's on a Windows 11 PC, with the latest version of EUCON.

I've been using them with a macbook - same router, same wifi, etc., just fine. I installed eucontrol on my windows 11 laptop, works great there too. So it's something about my PC, not the hardware or network.

I've tried using both wifi and direct ethernet connection from the PC. I have been configuring corporate routers and firewalls for decades, I understand networking. There isn't a problem with my network.

I did a clean install of windows 11 (different partition) and with nothing else whatsoever installed on the machine, just Windows 11 and EUCON, it still won't connect. I updated the network drivers (Intel) to the absolute latest, still no dice. I can't count the number of times I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled EUCON and/or rebooted.

The only thing I can think of is the network card built into the motherboard is for some reason incompatible, because again, both my MBP and Windows 11 laptop work great with exactly the same EUCON version, config, same router, same cables.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Think a network card will fix it?

Can you ping the Dock's IP from your PC? Looks like the dock isn't even seen by EC

The dock disappeared from the list after giving that error message, it's always there when I restart eucon.

Pings are good.

I'll add that sometimes the S1's will connect, sometimes they won't, but even when they do connect they don't work (setup on desktop is the same as the laptop, bonjour allowed through firewall, control panel eucon settings the same, same ableton settings) Something is clearly different about this machine, for the life of me I don't know what that is.

When you see this error can you check to see if MCClient is running in Task Manager? Can you quit it and restart it or just run it if not there.

MC_Client is running when it happens. Killing and restarting MC Client has no effect, the message recurs.

I tried some additional things after restarting MC_Client, such as "Restart EUCON appliations", and waiting a while after restarting MC_Client before trying to add the dock.

In the EUCON Control panel is the network setting correct? Can you check the version of Bonjour, you could try uninstalling Bonjour and EUCON from Windows and then installing EuControl again(which puts the correct version on)

I have tried with "use all interfaces" as well as both the hard-wired network interface and the wifi interface choices in EUCON in the control panel.

Bonjour 3.0.0.10 was installed, I uninstalled it, and uninstalled eucon, and rebooted, and reinstalled, and still no luck.

I also tried turning off windows firewall entirely to see if that made a difference (it didn't).

One more thing I'll add on the off chance it's related: I get an error message about EuVKbd.sys not being able to be loaded with core isolation on (message attached). I turned off core isolation and reinstalled eucon and the error message went away, but I still had the same issue with connecting to the controllers. I have since turned core isolation back on and I'm getting the message again.

You need to make sure that network setting is set to the one that the Dock and S1 are connected to.
The Core isolation thing is a new Win 11 security setting that our driver is not compatible with. I have it turned off on my system. Its for the keyboard shortcut softkeys to work.

I typically do have it set to the interface I'm trying to use: I've changed it to the WiFi interface when I've tried to access it via WiFi and the ethernet interface when attempting to use a hard-wired connection. I've also rebooted several times after changing the setting.

Thanks for the info on the driver.

Just in case(I know this is probably not your issue but worth noting) PT and EUCON don't support Windows sleep, this is the default setting so make sure to turn it off.
