Registering a Preowned S1

Greetings. How important is it that I register with AVID my used S1 just purchased from the Guitar Center? I already had EUCON 2022.9 installed, as I have been using my iPad for a few years. I plugged in the ethernet cable and the S1 popped up in my EuControl Settings. I dragged it over to My Surfaces, opened a PT session, and the S1 came to life. I still need to learn to use it, but it appears to working. I don't know if GC had the previous owner unregister the S1, so I'm not sure of it's current registration status. What do you think?

I bought one last month (used). There is a transfer form you will need to fill out and have the previous owner fill out. I am in the middle of that process now. Log into you Avid account and contact support.

Thanks for the reply. Quick follow-up: Did you know the former owner? I bought my used S1 from Guitar Center, and I'm guessing they didn't have the previous owner transfer ownership. Thanks again, Skip B.

I bought from a Reverb seller. I have his contact info. I am sure there is a way around it if you don't know the original registered user. They probably just want to make sure it is not hot.

Only if it's under warranty or a support contract. Software is freely downloadable in the Avid Download Center

Thanks much; that's what I was wondering. The fact that they charge $20.00 to transfer ownership is a head-scratcher. With no benefit, since I'm sure this unit is out of warranty, I'll save my money. Thanks again!

Where does one stand if you don't know the previous owner?
There is one for sale, seller bought it at auction and says it is new, but can't prove it.
Is there a way of checking serials to make sure it's not stolen, or registered to someone else?

You can PM me the serial number and I can look in our system, but its unlikely to show up.
