Default Dupliation from catalogs

When pulling SFX into a session from a Catalog, if you use the same file (or more likely different parts of it) at different points in the session, what's the best workflow to have the file copied to the session's Audio Files folder without making multiple copies of it?

Search for it in the clips list and reuse it from there.

Option-click/drag (or Alt-click/drag) from the timeline will duplicate same as copy/paste.

Not the scenarios that I'm thinking of. Something more like:

1: Search SFX catalog for footsteps on gravel (slow) and drag file from workspace onto timeline. (SFX file includes several different sets of footstps on gravel.)

2: Some time later, search SFX catalog for footsteps on gravel (fast), and drag same SFX onto timeline with the intention of using a different section.

Unless you cross check the file names every time you import SFX into the session, or search in the clip list (where you can't selectively audition sections of a clip), it's easy to end up with multiple copies of the same file in Audio Files folder.

That's mainly because the Workspace is pretty terrible. It can't do that. Look into getting a proper sfx database/librarian.

Are there any libcrarian plugins that can monitor what's in the PT session's cliplist?
