Pitch Shift Time Compression
Is it Possible to take a completed stereo track and drop it a whole step using time compression or any other means? If so how do you set it up. Thanks Stu

Re: Pitch Shift Time Compression
Stu,
The quality afterward can depend on what the audio itself is, in my experience. It works quite well with a simple tone, like a guitar or mandolin note. If you mean a full stereo mix, you will likely hear some quality difference, but I've still done it many times for background 'sub-mix' samples. In Pitch Shift, a 'semi-tone' is a half step, so 2 semi-tones is of course a step. The time compress/expansion can also lose some quality, depending on the piece of audio. I suggest you just experiment a little anyway... ~Roy

Re: Pitch Shift Time Compression
I was afraid that's what you meant... well yeah, I wouldn't recommend just Pitch Shifting it. It will give you a fascimile of the orig, but not worth the quality loss.
Maybe someone can suggest a more sophisticated solution...... I'll keep my eyes open too.

Re: Pitch Shift Time Compression
Unfortunately Stu, I thinkn Roys right, Pitchshifitng will probably the only way. If the tempo aint a BIG deal, then make sure you have the accuracy meter all the way dialed in, if tempo is, then try that. I use Pitch Shift a lot, and it usually doesnt work well with large portions, or even with some small sound efx.
Good luck, and see if that works. Im sure you know the Pitch Shift plugin is an audiosuite plugin..
