Default Pro Tools LE 8.5 updater won't run

I just downloaded the Pro Tools LE 8.5 updater for Pro Tools LE 8. When i ran the updater program, i got a message that said a older version of Pro Tools was installed on my system, and i had to uninstall Pro Tools 8, before running the Pro Tools 8.5 updater. I uninstalled Pro Tools LE 8 and ran the Pro Tools LE updater and the updater failed to run. I know that i need to have Pro Tools LE installed on my computer before running an updater program. Would it help to install an older version of Pro Tools like Pro Tools 7 before running the Pro Tools 8.5 updater program?

This is the LE forum. If you posted in the correct forum, you should know that 8.5 is for HD Native only, not LE. LE doesn't go above 8.0.5 so far.

As mentioned above, make sure you are using the correct 8.0.5 LE updater for Windows, not 8.5.

I have a similar problem also. I downloaded the PT LE 8.0.5 updater and cannot launch the installer. I have installed PT LE 8.0.3 with an install disk that came with an MBox 2 package, and im trying to get it running on Windows 7. When i try to launch the updater exe. file, an error message pops up saying this:

I tried looking everywhere for an explanation but couldnt find one. I uninstalled the PT 8.0.3 and everything and reinstalled it to see if that would help or change anything. Alas, it did the same thing. Any suggestions?

having trouble getting my pro tools update 8.0.5 to open up correctly. i was able to upgrade from 8 LE to 8.0.5 seeing as how 8 was giving so many issues, i saw this as a way out but now i am having issues with the 8.0.5 version. everything goes well until the last seconds of the opening screen. i never make it to a session screen. it sends my pc to the "BLUE SCREEN" and shuts it down. how can i solve this issue so that i can resume recording ? feel free to contact me with other means located on my INFO if need be. I REALLY NEED HELP thank you.

FWIW, this is the method that worked for me with 8.0.3 and 8.0.5 on Windows 7. Starting from a clean system(no previous Pro Tools software at all). I ran the 8.0.3 installer in Vista SP1 compatibility and did NOT connect the interface when asked. After it finished and rebooted, I ran the updater(as admin) and DID connect the interface when asked. Any time you have a failed install, its mandatory to get rid of any vestige of the software before the next attempt(one reason that drive imaging rules)
