Obviously the option and command keys play a huge part in shortcut operations for PT. But I find myself only using a few obvious ones. Thought it might be cool for people to share their favorites and speed up all our work in the process.
Some that I use all the time: -Shift-moving regions to copy them -Option-clicking any fader or dial to zero -Command-control clicking tracks to inactivate them (my current favorite PT feature, btw) -Command-clicking regions to snap to markers -Command-spacebar to record -Option-solo/mute to enable/disable all -Option-track height/track mode to reflect all tracks. Again, these are fairly obvious. Wondering what some lesser known ones are. |

well, ....when you've read the PT Manual (also available online from the digidesign site), and have also read the glossy card thingy and absorbed all short cuts quoted in these two sources, give me a shout!!! P.S. - that's where yours came from!!! |

For automation I'm constantly:
Command-Clicking on plug-in parameters (buttons 'n knobs) and volume, or track name for waveform view. The plug-in's paramters have to be automation enabled first. Highlighting, then Command-forward slash for breakpoints. Then selecting inside the breakpoints and raising or lowering the automation while holding down Option for automatic ramping to the breakpoints. Placing the curser at a section of automation I want to copy, then put automation in suspend. Then highlight the new area and Control-Command-Forward Slash to paste all those automation parameters in the new selection. Option-Delete to delete all layers of breakpoints for all parameters within a selection. Control-Comand to deactivate plugs. Control-dragging regions to other tracks constrained to the timeline. Whew... also, with an automation view (i.e. volume) make a selection, adjust the parameter (volume fader), then Shift-Command-Forward Slash to change the (volume) relative to the amount you adjusted (the delta value). |
