Default Re: Pro Tools 10 Freezes

I thought I was the only one experience frequent small freezes.
Seems to happen randomly frequently thru all sessions whether its small or large. It will lock up for about 1-3 seconds.
Unlike everyone else, this was happening to me in the latest version of 9 as well.

My system doesn't seem to be running as good in 10 as it did in 9 when looking at the CPU meter in pro tools. Ram cache and Disk cache makes the timeline super fast but my cpu is going to hell. Same sessions in 9 ran flawless but not as fast and clean since it didn't have the cache that 10 does.

I'll have to post a Sandra report soon, but heres what I have for now.

Windows 7 Home 64 bit
Intel i7 2.8 Gig
6 Gigs of Triple-Channel Ram
3 Separate Hard drives 7200 RPMs (1 for the OS, 1 for Pro Tools projects, and 1 for samples) They are all the same hard drives.
ATI Graphics card

I have 3 Gigs of Ram set in Pro Tools RAM Cache out of the 6.
Like I said, it doesn't seem to be a RAM or Disk problem as the sessions run smoking fast. But the CPU is being destroyed. Sometimes it happens randomly too.

Thanks for letting us know.

I am having similar freezing problems in PT9, and this is the main reason I am not jumping to PT10. For me, PT9 is still in beta and was prematurely released. Looks like PT10 is the same. I would rather wait for a proper 64 bit release, anything else is a waste of money.

I have the same problem with an error when saving. If I have autobackup enabled it comes up with "not enough memory" error after hour or two of working. If I disable autobackup, then after four or five savings on Ctrl-S i get the "Access Violation" error.

Sessions are not really big. No VI's used, just 28-32 audio tracks at 48kHz, 24bit, 4-5 busses, nothing on Master Buss. Using only UAD plugins. This is really annoying, do something, plz!

I'm pretty sure it's not just pro tools because I have an old crappy dual core at home I use with pro tools but it's 32 bit OS. Doesn't freeze up like the one at the studio does.

I'm starting to think it may have something to do with the 64 bit OS.

When I upgraded to PT 10 I had the issue so I decided to do a full OS reinstall.
I did the reinstall and still had the same problem. The only thing that I changed from 9 to 10 was I upgraded my video driver (nVidia 9600) to the latest version. So I tried uninstalling the video driver and reinstalled the one I used under PT 9 and my freezing has dropped significantly.
It still happens once in awhile but not in the middle of playback or recording.
Happens now when I select to add new track or things like.
Not saying this would be the case for everyone, or that the problem truly went away because it hasn't but I am just reporting that I showed improvement once going back a version with my video driver.

I get this freeze as well, both on a dual core laptop and on my studio I7 quad setup.
