Win 7 won't load PT 8 or update 8.0.3

Hi,

I've got Win 7 Pro on a dell latitude E6500 - intel core duo P8700 @2.53GHz

I've got an m-audio fast track pro working fine with other applications (eg SMAART).

I downloaded the 8.0.3 update and it won't load 'cause it wants to update an existing installation of PT.

The CD for PT 8.0 won't load - dvd drive is busy; occasional noises but nothing changes since I click install.

Explorer also becomes unresponsive.

I've un-installed IE8 and tried again; same thing.

Memory usage is low; cpu usage is also very low - under 10%.

When I eject CD the installer complains about media missing but.. surely something would have happened in the 20min before eject ?

Is there a way to dowload a full version of PT8.0.3 ?

Any other ideas ?

Sorry new to forums but not had problems with PT 7 or 8 on XP or Vista.

Try copying the entire contents of the cd/dvd to a folder on your desktop; then install from there.

Thanks for that tip.

copying didn't work so it's either a problem with the media or a problem with my dvd drive.

I can access another computer so will try copying cd from there; and can get hold of another PT8 cd as well.

I'll try both out.

Had a hell of a installing PT 8 mpowered on my Win 7 64 bit laptop I just got.

It would install but would hang for the longest time and give error (Creative collection error 2147213312)

No matter what I did every time it attempted to install the creative collection


Try this - Uninstall PT and delete the Digidesign folder in the C drive. Along with the Digidesign folder in the common files.



1st Reinstall only the RTAS Instruments when this Completes reinstall PT 8.
Not sure why it worked, but it did.
