Default LE vs HD comparison

I couldn't find any documents that compare feature sets between LE and HD on the site. Obviously a newbie, I'd like to make the move to ProTools and would need to understand the differences and compare them to my existing rig, other options and checking account. Is there white paper or brochure that would help me? Thanks for your help.

Rob, thanks for the overview. I kind of had an idea about the hardware, PCI vs computer processor. On my old software/hardware I was mixing 32 tracks w/ 6-8 "live" effects and had 8 I/Os at 16bits using Deck and an 8600. Did our first two CDs on it. Getting to a similar level would be fine for my project studio and my Dual G4. I guess I'm concerned about the software side of things as well and the use of DSP plug ins and other issues and possible limitations I might face in producing our next CD. Some of the previous posts mentioned about upgrading to a better converter if using 002r. I'd appreciate any suggestions as well. Again, thanks a lot for getting me pointed in the right direction or other comments.

something which is not mentioned often is that HD has a slightly better sounding software.

but LE is a better deal- it's the music that matters- not to mention your input chain etc. A 20,000 HD setup will still put out a crappy recording if you're using crappy gear in a crappy room.

p.s. if you're not tied to Pro Tools, you can check out some really great converters for a lot less $$$ than an HD setup (lynx are about the best I've heard in the under 3,000 price range).
