Well err yes - and as of last week I even have ADSL2 so it's as fast as a turbocharged snail now (but far better than 512K so I'm not complaining).

And I do search but don't see them for such low prices as mentioned in this thread which is why I asked - generally they seem to go for double what is being mooted. Hopefully I will have some luck like you guys did ;-)

Over the last year and a half, I have setup an HD3 PCI rig on a self-built PC, one step at a time. Before PT9 was released, I got an HD2 with a 192 i/o and a G5 for $4500. That was a good price at the time. Since then, I have added an Accel card ($600) and 2 more 192 i/os, one for $1000, one for $1600 with a D/A card. I now have the HD3 with 48 i/o for a grand total of $7700, and a ton of plugins. Fortunately for me, I was able to do all of that without actually shelling out any cash. I just had people who needed work done buy these items for me as I squeezed them into the schedule.

As far as PCI, I built my system, after the G5 died, using a currently available motherboard (Intel H55HC), and won't need to upgrade for years. PTHD 8 is just fine on Windows 7 Pro. So for those saying PCI is being phased out, who cares if your machine works, and will for years?

What are the advantages of going HD ?????

ADC ? Interface Quality? Heat? Track Counts?

Won't all the RTAS plugins work inside PTHD / TDM

So let's have it nerd513.......Don't hold out on us?

So how does the system achieve the better sound quality? Internal processeing differences b/t HD and LE or Interface Converters?

Thanks.
