Default Pro Tools Crashing issue

Hello all!

I am brand new to the community and to using pro tools.

i have recently downloaded pro tools 2021 on windows 10 using the focusrite 212 2nd gen.

once i open pro tools and select create (either from template or not) pro tools will load to what i assume is main editing screen and then immediately crash no matter what i do.

i have searched online and cannot find anything that is of help to me. i have also downloaded the recommended driver as well as the updated focus rite driver.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

have a great day, thanks

The system requirements for Protools 2021.3 & 2021.3.1 states that the minimum RAM is 16 GB and 32 GB is recommended. Having said that, I have an separate 8GB 12" Macbook and Protools 2021.3.1 seems to run okay on it. Perhaps Windows is more strict with the minimum RAM requirement.

I'm confused with these specs. How many computers do you have? You're showing specs for two different machines. Either way around 8 gig ram isn't going to be enough to run PT.

It'll run, but barely... Audio only, no VI's, no video, not a lot of tracks, not a lot of plugs.

Also, which processor? You didn’t give us YOUR system specs. Many have said that their i5 machines are working, but Avid highly recommends an i7. Have you done all of the recommended optimizations?

Here is what I see countless times on this forum. Folks trying to run a professional, industry standard DAW on a low end system. Throughput, CPU, Bus Speed, Disk I/O, RAM, minimizing all potential nannies, processes, bloatware... all factors when running sessions in Pro Tools.

For ProTools, I highly suggest scoping out a PBA (Purpose Built Appliance - hence a system that only does one thing, Pro Tools), especially if you don't want to fuss with things not running, crashing, etc...

This^^^^

If you really don't need Pro Tools, get Reaper and get to work.

Ok for the future rather than just copying and pasting info from the computer website List Your actual computer and just list the Ram-processor- OS version --PT version and your interface See my sig line below.

Back to your op First you said you downloaded the Focusrite updated driver But did you install it ? it so then ::
When you go to launch PT ,,,Hold down the (N) key on your computer keyboard then launch PT It should open a screen that asks you if you want the Focusrite as the Playback engine . (in other words try to find out if PT even sees the Focusrite as a Playback engine or Audo playback device

If PT sees the Focusrite and you have it selected THEN ::

What I would try next is trashing you preferences.
If that does not work then try uninstalling PT and the Focus rite driver
Then install the Driver first,,, then install PT ..
