CD Eject with PT Keyboard
Hey guys,
I know it may be a stupid question, but what is the easy way to open the cd tray on the new G4? I've been having to open toast and eject from there. Is there a quick key I can set up for that?? Thanx. |

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
On the 9.2 OS CD that comes with the new G4s, there is an app named "Eject". Put it on the desktop and click on it when you need to open the CD.

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
There is no easy way to open the CD-tray on the new Macs! I find the Mac CD handling the most annoying thing. O how I would love a PC drive with a button that only opens when I puss it and when I push it it always opens!

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
Hey Gil, the app that he is refering to put on the desk top is actually a control strip module. However, I have found in instances where this method would not open the CD drive either. The other way to do this is to program the one of the function keys to open it. However this will not allow you to use any of the function keys for Pro Tools at all. By the way, what are you up to these days? I haven't heard anything since we got graduated together?

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
Use the:
1. Eject funtion via the Finder 2. Eject function via the Control "CDStrip" 3. Drag the CD icon to the Trash... |

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
Have they taken that away as well?! Apple just keep changing stuff
On the graphite G4/466 that I bought in April, the CD load/eject is the top right button on the Apple keyboard, as are commands for mute and volume up/down. So what's there now, then? |

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
I was amazed when setting up a rack of the new 867 Mhz Macs, that Apple had taken away the old saftey pin emergency eject option on the Super Drive. There are some times when it is needed. In my mind that was just plain bad engineering, I don't want to have to reboot in some case just to get a CD to eject.... What next no power button on the KYBRD... doh...

Re: CD Eject with PT Keyboard
I put a "non-supported" TDK 24x Cd writer in my G3 on the IDE bus. The writer works great with toast and the "eject" button on the front of the unit works fine too.
Almost any ATA internal CD writer will work in a G3 or G4 on the ATAPI bus. |
