Default Plugin Alliance new copy protection

Hopefully the whole iLok story will become a history sooner or later.
Thanks to pioneers "Plugin Alliance"!
This is the reality:
No hardware authorization anymore.
Buy 1 license and authorize up to 3 machines.
No codes, no numbers. A simple on line authorization in 3 seconds.
All in one full licenses AAX, TDM RTAS AS, AU, VST
Price drop.

These folks just realized the modern reality among the firsts.
They will survive.

iLok and PACE with their piracy-in-mind attitude - no.

Will this "new" system allow me to move my authorizations from studio-to-studio (without limitations), quickly and without Internet access as ilok does?

At this point, if I can't authorize it on ilok... I won't buy it.

This doesn't seem like anything new to me. Seems very similar to challenge/response... the only difference is you type something you can actually remember and only have to do it once for all of your plugins.

I tried this. It's the only way to demo the new Brainworx stuff. It's better than challenge response. But I'll stick with my iLoks. They definitely have an advantage when using multiple computers.

It's just another disk-based auth method where each machine generates a unique ID based on some combination of the hardware specific data.

I believe you can carry the auth with you on a pen drive. But I'm sure there are limitations as I only tried one demo and was connected when I did it. But it gives the option to carry along a license to an offline computer

Reading the instructions for authorizing an offline computer reveals that you have to save the generated unique ID as a text file and take that to a connected machine to generate the license file which is then brought back to the offline machine.

As discussed almost everywhere else by now.. It's not a good scheme. You only get 3 Auths.. although they may allow more.. and they may not.

In combining all of your Elysa, SPL and BX licenses into one license file you create a bundle. You can no longer sell any individual license, and even if you could find someone to buy the whole lot off of you at the same time, you still have to pay them fees and such and get their permission. You're going to take a loss big time if you decide to sell.

Since the plugs (VSC-2), are (relatively) expensive anyways, I cannot see how you save any money by not coding for iLok. To me it just seems a seedy way to keep you locked into their plugs..

I'm one of the guys that just spent a fair bit buying VSC-2 only to have them announce a few days later that no upgrades would be available unless you opted into this new system.. Unfair in my opinion. This was a brand new plug, out just about a month and it is reasonable to expect some life in it for the ilok guys.

I'm unhappy about it.. and vocal.. I'll wait and see what happens and if they change things.. or I'll dump every one of them.
