How to downgrade from an unwanted Control App upgrade
Hello everyone,
I have been happily working with PT Ultimate 2018 and my two Artist surfaces (Control and mix) + the control app for weeks when, this morning, without further explanations, the Control App ugraded itself to version 2022.4 (I've set the OS to NOT upgrade automatically but am not sure where to do that for an app on an Ipad...). Now, I get the dreadful "mismatch" message in the Eucon App and the Control App stopped working... Upgrading to Eucon 2022.4 is, correct me if I'm wrong, not a good option since I could also "loose" my Artist surfaces (with PT 2018), and upgrading to PT 2022 is even less of an option since I'm on a Mac Pro 2010 (and have stopped paying my perpetual licence since last year). Is there anyway to go back to a previous version of the Control App. Right now, I don't see how since the App Store only provides the latest version... Please tell me I'm not completely screwed... Thanks for any help/info.... Mat

You can run the latest Eucontrol with the Artist. Some new features won't be available unless you upgrade Pro Tools but the features you are currently using will continue to work with older Pro Tools and the Artist Mix

Re: How to downgrade from an unwanted Control App upgrade
I recently had trouble with battery draining fast on my iPad, and turning off app updates in background turned out to be a big help for the battery.
Edit: I turned off background update for all apps, not just app store. I like it like that.

To SD2 - it is actually possible to revert to a previous version if you keep regular iPad backups and then “restore” from a backup earlier than the unwanted update. This saved me once although turning off Auto Update is probably best practice.

Re: How to downgrade from an unwanted Control App upgrade
Thanks guys for the advices!
I did the update and everything seem fine and back to normal. What's bothering me is that, after checking the iPad's settings, everything related to auto-update was indeed turned off (as I do with every Mac devices I have, from Mac Pro to iPhone to MBP) : -in "General" (but that's only for iOS if I'm not wrong), -and in "App Store", under "automatic downloads" (or something like that, I have a french version of iOS), "Apps" is unselected and "Apps update" is also unselected. I've searched in the many Apps settings (such as "Books", "Apple Store", "iMovie", etc etc) but there doesn't seem to be settings for AVID Control ....?.... Am I missing something? I wouldn't like to get in trouble again with that damned app auto-updating again...

Re: How to downgrade from an unwanted Control App upgrade
Any chance you accidentally manually updated it?
iOS is what drives updates (can't be set from within an app) The fact you were on 2018 for so long sounds like you had disabled it (otherwise it would have happened way earlier than now.) Which only leaves manually updating it as the reason. (Unless you had to do a complete restore which would have pulled the latest if you weren't doing a restore from backup)

Re: How to downgrade from an unwanted Control App upgrade
I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything special.
I had been working on the same project for 3 days and, out of the blue, one morning when launching the app along with the rest (PT.....), I noticed that the icon was showing the "watch alike" transparent process and, BAM, update was over... At least I now know that I can use recent versions of Eucon and Control app along with older versions of PT (I'm about to upgrade to PT202O, but not more).
