Default missing fade files?

Opened a session and for some reason it couldn't find the fade files (I had opened it earlier that day and everything was found no problem). Anyway, I "skipped all fade files" and everything seemed to play fine but then again maybe something subtle had changed.

I read in another thread not to worry about missing fade files because they get recreated somehow?

Should I worry? Please explain to me what I might have done to make fade files go missing and then re-create themselves (if they did)... and any other enlightening info you can offer me.

Thanx in advance.

No, don't worry - who knows why your Fade files were missing (could be something dire, I suppose, but probably unlikely if you're not having other problems), but the Skip All Fades button reconstructs all Fades as unnecessary. (OK, in an enormous session with muchos fades this might take a minute.)
This brings up a good backup/archive Tip: before you burn your Session folder off to CD/DVD ROM or tape, feel free to delete the contents of that Session's Fade Folder. If & when you reload that Session onto the System & open it, you'll click Skip All Fades, they get reconstructed, & you've avoided archiving those megabytes needlessly.

Missing fades is a sign of a corrupt sesion.

Rather than always have the session rebuilt the fades, it safer to consolidate the track or at least the regions that have fade files so you won't need them anymore. On a session with many fades, it does seem silly to go through the work of making all those fades just to consolidate later, but once your session is consolidated and finished, make sure to compact (check the manual first) and all those extra audio regions will be deleted for you.

Hope this helps.
