Fragmentation on new G4s
I recently purchased a new 1gHz dual G4, and have found that out of the box, the system drive was brutally fragmented. Tech Tool Pro revealed 757 fragmented files.
I thought I might have been an isolated case, but 3 other G4/TDM buyers I know have also seen extremely fragmented system drives out of the box. Is this anything new? What is Apple doing to these drives? Anyone else seen this? |

Re: Fragmentation on new G4s
Hi undo1234, due to the vast complexity of the OSX install it will show sever under speed disk. My suggestion, out of the box, Reformat the drive immediately and partition it. Use a partition for OS 9.2.2 (ProTools). Use another if you want to get into OSX. It's better this way and keeps both sides clean of confusion.
