Avid have said they plan to release full M1 support, including hardware drivers for HDX & HD Native, as well as reintroducing the video engine, in October. They said that there may be limited video codec support in the first release, however.
EDIT: re-reading the thread on the FB Pro Tools group, they said "official support" not "full M1" support, and may have been referring to HDX and HD Native hardware drivers, not native M1 support. However, they clearly said that they are planning to re-introduce the video engine on M1 in this release.

Apple Silicon support is likely to arrive some time this year, and it is my best guess that it will also mean support for video engine.
