Default How to get the low H/W buffersize of 32

I was wondering how to get the lowest possible H/W-buffersize of 32. The lowest I'm getting now is 64 and maximum is 1024
I'm using PT8 LE with the Digi003-factory on a Quadcore Pc with P35 motherboard and 2gb of Ram. I've also the MPT installed.

Is it the pc that determines how low I can get or do I need to tweak my setup ?

you can hear the difference between 2 and 4 MS when you are paying or singing? I usually have stuff at 128 and clients don't notice...

As I understand you can get down to 32 samples with 003 on mac, but only 64 on pc. Mbox2Pro only has 64 samples on both platforms.

When it comes to latency there are different opinions on what is noticable or not. For me the difference between 64 samples and low latency monitoring is noticable enough to always use low latency monitoring when tracking/recording.

I can't speak for the conceived latency at 32 samples as I don't have the 003.

Have you A/B'ed 128 vs low latency for your clients ?

32 is a Mac-only thing and really stresses the computer(so you would need a powerful Mac). In any case, arguments aside on the 64 vs 128 buffer, I have NEVER had anyone complain or notice latency at 64. Do some math and you see that 64 samples out of 44,100 samples per second(assuming 44.1K sample rate) and you can see that it is a tiny fraction of time. There's as much latency between your speakers and your head 4 feet away, or between the bass player and drummer that are 8 feet away from each other.

I just noticed the amount of 32 while watching some tutorials. Those vids were indeed done on a Mac.
But I can work fine with 64 and 128 , I was just wondering.

Thank you all for replying.

No i haven't... Doesn't Low latency disable all effects on the track being recorded? if thats the case.. I'm sure the client would notice the dead.. no reverb sound... heh heh

And at 24 bit 48khz.. 128 would have ~5.3 ms latency... round trip in/out of the interface.. and 64 is ~3.5 ms round trip in/out ... So like Albee1952 said... its about the same as playing with someone next to you... or a Monitor on stage in a live situation thats 4-6ft from your ear.
