Hardware insert delay compinsation,is it mandatory or automatic
Hardware insert delay compinsation,is it mandatory or automatic.
I have a bunch of channel strips I like to use as hardware inserts but sometimes it seems as though Im having delay compensation problems. Well I definitely am but I don't know how to remedy this. So how is this done or does anybody know where I can actually learn this on my own, this way I will really learn and remember it. Like they say give him a fish he eats for a day, teach him to fish he eats everyday. There are so many basic things like this I really need to learn is there a class coarse or somewhere I can learn this stuff. I am not used to being this inept at something musical and I would like to educate myself so I understand my system better. |

the DA/AD is auto compensated for if ADC is on
there may be extra delay in you hardware, that can be adjusted for in the last tab of the I/O Settings Window (the hard name escapes me at the moment)

Do I need to calculate the delay compensation or just do it by ear.

Re: Hardware insert delay compinsation,is it mandatory or automatic
make a pop (1 video frame of 1k at nominal level) on a track
put the insert on the track and then bus it to a new track to record the delay measure the time difference between the original and the new track (I'd use the Min:Sec ruler) apply that number to the insert offset retest and adjust if need

Re: Hardware insert delay compinsation,is it mandatory or automatic
Thanks man that makes perfect sense.
Does it have to be video or can I just use the audio Im working on. Is that way better or just different because its a continuous feed with no dropouts. Sorry my mistake 1 video frame? I have never used video I was thinking of making a video of all my mistakes ,that way I won't have to edit. LOL |

Re: Hardware insert delay compinsation,is it mandatory or automatic
I work mostly in post so I think in those terms, and is an extension of the 2-pop/finish pop
10 milliseconds would work, might be better given that the adjustment needs to be done in milliseconds
