I use VNC 5 times a week with the digi. I get absolutely no problems with VNC connected. If you are experiencing an unresponsive console, it is either a problem with the VNC, or possibly an entirely different problem.

In other words, you should be able to VNC to the console without causing any problems at the console.

I had the same problems with VNC and laptop connections after moving to version 2.8.x. I resolved the issue by completely uninstalling VNC then reinstalling (on the Profile, not the laptop).

This was a new install of the ECX software on the console, I'll try a removal and a new install and see if that helps.

Has anybody tried another VNC other than the "standard issue"?

Hey folks,

We are aware of this issue and we're hoping to get a fix out soon. To get a better idea of the factors involved we'd like to hear what configurations are working (normal GUI response) and which are not (meters and page redraws onscreen seem sluggish). We need to know the following:
VENUE software version (the problem seems to be limited to 2.8.x)
ECx version (the problem seems to be limited to 2.0)
VNC client (the problem seems to be limited to Chicken of the VNC)
Also, if anyone is seeing the meters on the hardware (control surface) slow down (as was suggested on this thread http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=268840) please let us know as well.

Thanks,
Rich

I'm running 2.7.something and I noticed the same thing yesterday morning. I was using Chicken of the VNC and a MackBook Pro.

We installed the ECX- drivers again on to the console, and everything is fine now.

Thanks for the tip.

We use the screen sharing built in to Mac OSX for VNC'ing in to our consoles and it seems to be much faster than any client we've downloaded... Just type vnc://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx into safari and type your console's password. Quite usable.

I know that's not the exact topic of the thread, but some have mentioned their client being slow...
