I second that, Bob! Chris, thank you for chiming in!
Plus, I’m not one to anticipate an update merely for the sake of an update. I’d much rather have something brought to market only after it’s been “flushed out,” so to speak. “We will release no update before its time.”

Hey Chris. I wasn't expecting to dip into the latest threads and read this, but thank you. I don't know how many others will bump across your response here, but hopefully it will be a lot. We appreciate all you guys can do, and look forward to your latest efforts.

Another thank you, Chris.

Please understand that as customers paying $400 per year for support and sporadic updates, communication is extremely important. The Pro Tools part of the DUC has almost zero input from Avid, whereas (say) the EuCon section is wonderfully managed by Eddie, and Mariana used to look after everyone in the Media Composer forum (not sure if she’s still there).

Please don’t make one great post and leave us again for years without any clue as to what is happening. If not you, then someone who can make contributions here from time to time to keep us in the loop. I appreciate there will times when you can’t say too much, but knowing voices are heard and being listened to is important in and of itself.

Finally, I’m sure everyone here regardless of what they think on the matter of communication or updates wishes every employee or contractor in Ukraine safety and security for themselves and their families. That they have been able to work at all in this time feels miraculous.

Maybe more pertinent information on updates for the audio people. More frequently. Everyone has deadlines. Everyone works a lot. I'd prefer straight facts and less fluff.
Example.

"We expect a major release in 3 months"

This is the second time that we've recently had an update on what may be coming. There was the post in advance of the 2022 Complete Plugin Bundle.

For me it is very welcome so we are not constantly seeing negative posts on the forum.

REALLY ? Lets see ....

Some one is frustrated that having gone ahead and made the unilateral personal "CHOICE" to purchase an unqualified machine or update to an unqualified OS

Then has issues ( for which the frustration is understandable BUT are in reality SELF INFLICTED issues )
Then proceeds to CHOOSE to be "outraged" and blame Avid for their own personal choice of moving ahead unsupported, and being angry when not getting qualified, in the time line that they want....
And also often being resentful of the fees Avid charges, even though it is they themselves, who have made the "CHIOCE" to continue to pay those fee's

Then becomes offended when others do not also choose to become "outraged" and resorts to labeling them as "apologists" "shills" or "must own stock".

So have I misstated something or do I have that essentially correct ?

I realize it has become fashionable and even PC to blame anyone and everyone ELSE (but ourselves) for our own personal choices ..But "REALLY ?"

I realize Avid's communication could be better and may not be at a disclosure level that some may desire. But seems few if any big companies are forthcoming about supply or production issues . I had to google the fact that Apples main factory in China is under a Covid lock down.....juss sayin'..

I'm not sure anyone is reacting quite as you describe. The latest Pro Tools version works on the Silicon Macs very well.

It was fairly easy for me, being as I have only recently updated from HD9 to 2021.12 with a reinstatement package and feel I have got great value for my new computer. Someone paying a yearly or monthly subscription or renewal might have a different idea of their value for money.

We all have different needs, so best not to speak for others.
