Pro Tools LE quits unexpectedly on every open

Hey guys,

I've spent the last month desperately trying to open Pro Tools LE on my old MacBook Pro simply so I can transfer Guitar Rig settings to my main recording machine running Pro Tools 12.

Problem is, LE mysteriously crashes every single time I try to open it. It's driving me nuts!

you do have a proper interface attached LE needs this
to confirm 8LE on OSX10.6.8

worse case, uninstall and reinstall 8LE

Hold the SHIFT key while opening the session. If it opens that way, then you know you have a bad plugin(its up to you to figure out which). Most likely its NOT going to be any stock plugin. Maybe it simply needs an update. As an example, when I went from LE8 to PT9, my Waves bundle(ver. 5 IIRC) would crash/close every session that used any of the bundle. Then when I moved from 9 to 10, my old AutoTune(version 3) would crash every session that used it. The SHIFT "trick" makes every plugin in a session inactive(without losing any settings).

Hey there, thanks so much for the reply.

I tried holding shift but the load screen gets to the bit about loading peripherals then it closes and the error report window appears.

Any ideas?

this......then dave's suggestion. and it is 10.6.8 right? b/c it might be giving you problems if it's a higher OS.

Hi M,

I just noticed that your are running LE 8.0.0 on 10.6.8.

Can you please try to update it to 8.0.5? Technically, 8.0.0 is just compatible on 10.5.x. But 8.0.5 is compatible up to 10.6.8.
