Installed ProTools 2022.12 for the first time onto brand new computer. iLok has a deactivated/expired subscription on it + a new, activated Perpetual License.
Upon install got message that subscription is expired, ie. ProTools was not seeing the License - only the expired subscription. (see screenshot). Important note: There is no internet in this location. All installs/updates/etc. must be done from disc. Solutions? Do I need to install iLok manager on the computer? |

Thanks @albee1952! I've deactivated those licenses. Fingers crossed.

Hi! I'm trying to better understand Activations. See screenshot. My license appears to be active...and yet - not activated on the ilok? Yet it works 100%. It appears to be "active" in several locations - and yet the option to "activate" is still there.
There seems to be two different "activations" taking place on the iLok. Can anyone clarify this for me, please? I'm also having trouble with another set of computers (that are not online) and their ilok is not working - is asking to be connected to the internet. In this instance, do i need to activate to the ilok in order for it to work? Thanks!

Well, that did not do the trick. The ilok wanted to connect to the internet but, of course, could not.
See screenshots: 1. license is active - but apparently i can still "activate" it (??) 2. When I click activate - it asks where. It appears that cloud is the only option - but I think I want to "activate to the ilok". If I follow through with this, will it activate to the ilok (as well as the cloud?) and will this fix the issue? Thank you!

Your screenshot is missing a very useful piece of data for *perpetual* licenses.
What is the Release Limit of the license shown in ILM for the Details of that license. (will be shown in Details of the bundle for bundled licenses)? You need a release limit > the date of the Pro Tools release you are trying to run. What exact version of Pro Tools are you attempting to launch? Don't guess but what exact version shows up in the launch splash screen (if you get that far) or in the log file (~/Library/Logs/Avid/Pro_Tools*.txt) I'm not following what you are doing with the mess of multiple threads on DUC. Please keep related stuff within one thread. The screenshot above shows the iLok is not owned by you. Why is that? If you have multiple iLok accounts were you aware of that? Your current iLok user account can't activate licenses to/from that iLok. You can run licenses that are on that iLok, you need to make sure the software you are trying to use is compatible with those licenses. Make sure that you are fully disconnected in ILM from the unreliable crap that is iLok Cloud. If you have multiple iLoks or machine licenses (for Intro) then things may not always behave as expected. Have only one exposed/activated license connected on an iLok (needs to be an iLok 2 or greater) and see if that works. If you are trying to use say Pro Tools perpetual then deactivate any Pro Tools subscriptions. This stuff can be a mess, make is as stupidly simple as possible so that the iLok licensing, and you, can hopefully not get confused. Don't get hung up on "Activate" it just means "Move License somewhere else". If a license is on a iLok (or machine for Pro Tools Intro or on iLok cloud and you are connected to that... but don't use that mess) is is "active" there and will work if perpetual and its limit date > product release date or if a subscription license and the subscription expiry date has not been reached. The Activate button on your screenshot will prompt you to change your iLok activation's location from your iLok 3 USB to the iLok Cloud. Can you PM me the iLok USB's serial number, connected to the other set of computers you mentioned?

Posting this for others in case needed
1. Should PT be able to 'see' the ilok without iLok manager installed? 2. Should I install ilok manager and 'synchronize' the iLok to the computer? 3. Can that be done without internet? 4. Do you think it's a terrible idea to try and install PT2023.3 on these machines? (running Ventura 13) 1. No, you will need the iLok License Manager installed. 2. Yes. But no need to synchronize if the license is already activated on an iLok USB. 3. No, internet is needed. 4. If you're on 13.2.1, you're good to go. https://kb.avid.com/pkb/articles/en_...tibility-Chart
