Try and error

Question is, if one of your cards has got the DSP on it to run SDII plugins. These are the reason why SDII shines imo. This is why I would never use just an Audiomedia III (PCI) for SDII, because it lacks the DSP.

I just realized that I sold all of my old Digidesign cards on Ebay At least, my OLD cards. Still have my PT24 and Mix cards. I wonder if a Project card combined with an old DSP Farm would work.

I’m determined to try it out again and see what the fuss is all about.

Can you elaborate on why the plugins were so awesome?

Depends on what is your goal. To design sound (Sound Designer ) it is about having a bunch more possibilities to do so via third party plugins for SDII (Waves and the like). Every DAW has got is own plugins, but I guess everybody will use third party plugins to achieve their goal better.

I wonder what would happen if I drop in a Project or Disk I/O on top of my Mix Core. Guess it’s time to experiment...
Thinking about trying the same. I have a G3 running AMIII and realized I can't use any of the SDII plugins with it. I have 2 Disk I/O PCI cards but no SCSI PCI cables. If anyone has these unicorn cables I think i need them in order to use them in my setup.

Whats strange is even though the AMIII apparently doesn't have the DSP processor, it somehow supports the "Diffuser" module on Turbosynth.
