Default Very loud noise when opening a protools session

Hi

I have had a very loud noise for about 3 seconds through my active monitors recently when opening a protools session. The volume knob was completely counter clockwise! After this noise, all works fine. Also when opening other sessions and reopening the same session again.......
It looks like it happens after not using the computer for a while.....
I am using some bus / aux send plugins like D-verb and delay and also a limiter (maxime). Does anyone has an idea what might be causing this?

HP desktop windows 7 (2x internal harddrive)
Mbox 3 pro
protools 8.04

regards, Jeroen from Amsterdam

You can understand, "Noise" in the field of sound engineering can take on a myriad of meanings.

What sort of noise do you mean? White noise, feedback, crackling, pops, hiss, hum or the sound of the toilet flushing...get my drift? You'll need to be more precise.

I think we all know what kind of noise he's talking about. What ver of PT are you on? Do some 'searches' on white noise.

Its certainly worth trying the cs2 update, or the 8.0.5 update(both should be free since you have 8.0.4). As always, I recommend a backup plan before any update(use Acronis True Image to save an image of the system drive BEFORE you mess with it). Also, trashing prefs and database files is a good step for ANY odd PT behavior
