PT2024.6 | Issues, Bugs & Observations Thread

Hey all,

Pretty pumped with this release as far as new workflows and bug squashing is concerned. I thought it might be a good idea to throw down a thread just for observations, issues, and potential fixes.

I've noticed immediately there's a big selection tool lag in 'fit to window' when dragging out a selection - I am using a 4k monitor, which I know isn't supported, but this wasn't an issue for me previously.

Interesting. It still works for me, although IDK what's going on with his delay compensation in the session, or what his input device is. I'd also never track anything with a session that had a super-high-latency plugin active like that. I don't use AutoTune, but MetaTune in high-latency mode ruins everything if you're not done tracking. I don't know that I'd classify that as a bug or just a workflow reality.

Avid did document a bunch of fixes for MIDI this time.

So are you not affected by PT-262860?

Curious about PT-323294 “Recording MIDI from a track would be ahead of time if the source track was Record Enabled”

Not sure what that means or if that’s meant to address MIDI sounding earlier on playback than during recording.

im told it's a known bug (they're working on it?) and it's not everyone having this issue.
but i've been recording MIDI instruments with HEAVY plugin loads for decades.
until PT2024 everything was fine.

Sadly it's not just tracking. It's existing midi source audio that is affected when other tracks start getting plug-ins added during mix-down.

In my case, ToonTrack EZ Drummer. All the clips are assembled in EZ Drummer, EZ is added to a stereo pair instrument track to pass the audio. Once I add plugs to other tracks, eq, comp, or create a bus for reverb, EZ drummer is about 3 seconds behind the audio tracks. Started in 2024.3.

I wasn't expecting PT-262860 to be in this release. I'm sure they had 2024.6 locked up and ready to go for some time to knock out the new features. I work in the software business, so I know how it goes. Bugs are created, ranked, new features and security patches take precedence.


In retro spect one could say, you could bounce your tracks to audio. The great thing about EZ drummer is, if there is a hit I want to move, or change a drum, I can do that on the fly. You may not know these things until you get to mix.

Looks promising. There are a lot of fixes.


UPDATE: Did a quick install, and as suspected, PT-262860 exists. Well, there is always next release!

I recreated his exact scenario and I'm not having the same issue. There must be something that is different between his sessions and mine that is adding to this issue.

I don't doubt that this isn't a problem on some people's systems, it's just not on everyones.

Damn, maybe I’ll have to try 2024.6 just to check how the MIDI behaves for me, but I’m not too hopeful unfortunately. Your video does seems like it could be ok but I guess there is still PT-262860 regardless which is a tough one
