Default nord electro 3 as MIDI controller??

I have a nord electro 3. it has a midi cable connected to it. I currently use the keyboard to enter MIDI data for xpand! and such. BUT I'd really like to use the knobs on it to control such MIDI data as filter frequency. how do I do this?? Namely I want to adjust the cuttoff frequency in the Vintage Filter. I could not find any information in the nord manual or anywhere online about this.
