I may have steered you wrong in your other thread. It may have been a workaround for Win7 I was remembering.
There have been quite a few 64 bit threads, though.

VERY well documented on here that PT is NOT qualified to run on a 64-bit o.s. so the first thing to do is what's recommended and stick with a 32-bit o.s.

its not recommended but it sure as hell works 100% fine...

sorry for the language but it seems to me some people don't want it to work in a 64 bit enviroment...

as I said PRO TOOLS is working 100% the only error is ILOK!!! which is not made by digidesign...

how about you stick with your 32bit systems while i reap the benefits of increased memory...

:)

Did you go to PACE and download the 64bit interlok drivers? That would be step number 1. The only workaround that I'm aware of with the 64bit Pace and iLok drivers was needed with Windows 7. As I recall the Pace drivers installed just fine in Vista64. Check iLok for 64bit drivers as they will need to be downloaded also.

You shouldn't have a Pace or iLok problem with Vista 64.

Yeah, it's strange I did everything(I'm pretty tech savvy). I contacted support and they told me that there is a known error with 64 bit installations and they are currently checking out my setup log to see if they can spot anything.

Am I the only one using Pro Tools in Vista 64 bit?

Sincerely I'm scared of upgrading to Windows 7, vista 64 bit took a long time to clear out all the bugs and I can only imagine compatibility nightmares with 7(unless it's all based on the vista 64 technology)...

Whats the exact error message? I assume you have downloaded the pace and iLok drivers?

There are a few folks running Vista 64-not many as it only working with USB interfaces. Win7 is pretty much up and running just the same as Vista at this point.

Default Re: iLok 64 bit error(anyone know the link)

on firefox it says the active X control for the device is not responding, and then tells me i should update it to the new version...

I have tried installing and reinstalling the new client installer and driver and still same messages.

In IE7 it tells me the client is not installed on my computer.

Im trying right now to install the 32 bit client maybe it can run on compatibility mode... hopefully *edit (did not work)

I think the potential is there for improvement over Vista but as long as its using the same driver as Vista the performance will be about the the same. Win7 itself is rather nice. Digi will need to rewrite the driver after it it ships.
