Default Re: 2021.6 Native - Dynamic Plugin Processing Broken

Confirming with 2021.6 Acon Digital Verberate and Phoenix Verb are running dynamically on tracks as expected.

So it means the plugins are compiled not to use the feature somehow? including AVID stock plugs?

One that actually does work is Acon Digital Verberate and I believe Phoenixverb. But that's just 2 out of 18 tested (including a lot of Avid plugins). Tests are done on tracks, not auxes (for testing purpose).

Yes it seems to be a long running issue of dynamic processing not working.
Quote AVID's website:
"The Dynamic Plug-In Processing option maximizes plug-in counts by dynamically reallocating host-based processing resources as needed. "

From page avid.secure.force.com/Playback-Engine-Optimization

Some plugin manufactures do bake dynamic processing into the code, Slate Acon, Sound Device Digital and Melda Production does it particularly well with a display in to upper right corner that shows when it is using CPU processing and when it hibernates(for lack of the proper term). Hats off to them. Their interfaces are a labyrinth to navigate, but they are efficient.

As to the point of plugins not be coded for dynamic processing - that would possibly be the case if they didn't dynamically process when inserted in auxes. But they do.

Every single plugin I have tested works as expected in aux returns. So the code to dynamically disable is in fact coming from Pro Tools and not the plugin. Again some manufacturers do bake it into their code and how quick they sense no audio and enter sleep mode varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

This feature does work in competing DAW's -
Please Avid let me use the full power of my CPU - It is absolutely crazy that an audio track with plugins would be utilizing my CPU from start to end of a song even if there is no audio on the track at all or if there is one little sliver of audio for a big gong hit at the end of a song.

AVID TECHS PLEASE: Create a session, make 32-64 audio tracks, put some stock plugins in, hit play and watch the system usage meter spike.

Any HD native, Carbon or Ultimate users having this issue?

Surely AVID's own pulgins should work properly. Politely requesting one of the MOD's to get any additional information from AVID.

Thank you.

Escalating this big/issue to the team and let’s keep this thread alive until this has been fixed.

It is annoying as heck not knowing if it works on one plugin but not another and having to look at that everytime is probably gonna get tired pretty quickly

Since we run outboards 90% of the tile the few plugins we run doesn’t work but our systems are working so we have not bothered with mocking around with DPP but I can see this would be a pretty lame thing for those of you using many plugins/

Yes it is - I just opened a session in native from an old 3 card HDX session. The session was 6 songs long that had interludes between the songs tying them all together - think Pink Floyd's The Wall but totally different style and without the talented musicians.
Anyhow it was difficult to manage because all plugins were eating up the native processor regardless if there was audio - there might have been 3 tracks playing in the interludes but 77 empty tracks were gobbling the CPU - I know there are work arounds - we used them all - track freeze - audiosuite render - bounce down stems and sections... (time consuming - buzz kill)

The point is, this is such an important feature of this wonderful DAW I love so much, especially as plugins get more cpu intense - please, please, please Avid can you look into this?

When I saw the update and reply to this thread I couldn't wait to update....

Is there a trick, click or setting that was introduced?
The manual is still the same.

The dynamic processing is still broken:-(
See screenshot.
