Default vocal sound on black sabbath\'s planet caravan

Does anyone know what effect or technique is used on the vocals on planet caravan. I cant tell if it is a phaser, double vocals, or delay.

I haven't heard that tune in YEARS, but if I remember correctly there is a backwards reverb on it, right? I could tell you how to do that in PT if you like...

You don't have any MP3 snippet of the tune, do you?

Burner, I would love to know how to do a backwards reverb. The vocal effect on that song is very cool.

Backwards reverb:
Reverse vocal track.
Send to reverb.
Record reverb output. Reverse it.

(There's a stock Audio Suite reverse plug-in)

I think they ran that through a Leslie cabinet.
If you arent sure what these are, they are the speakers that are usually used with Hammond type keyboards. Once people started using these for stuff other than keyboards, they were all over vocals, guitars, and bass'.
I do not hear any b-wards reverb on there. You can also get this type of effect by singing in front of a fan, warbling a tape machine, or getting the singer wasted out of his mind.

One plugin that can try to simulate a leslie is Bomb Factory's Voce plug. I think Line 6's Echo Farm may get you something kinda close, maybe used in tandem with some other plugs.

By the way, Pantera did a cool cover of this song on their 'Far Beyond Driven' record....
Check it out

I could only find the pantera version on Limewire (and it is quite good, I must say....nice guitar solo).

I think these guys are right...it's a rotary sound like a leslie or uni-vibe or something, for sure.

BTW...Lala, benjamin hooked you up with the backwards reverb instructions...

My friend acheived a very similar effect by routing his mic through a guitar chorus pedal.
