Hi,
I have been using the TimeFactory2 for frame rate conversion. One issue I am facing is that the Printmasters I convert are not phase aligned properly. There is no phase issues internally between the channels of a single track but there are issues between Atmos, 5.1 and Stereo Tracks. I have attached a screenshot of the 25fps Printmasters, and TF2 settings I use for reference First one is a 10ch PM, second is a 5.1 PM and third is a ST PM. Is this normal or something I should be worried about? Last edited by anuj; 02-13-2025 at 04:35 AM. |

Hello,
For frame rate conversion, I find it best to use the Sample Rate Conversion trick go from 24-->25 and not try to do it all in one fell swoop in TFII. If you don't know, it is pretty simple. Save a session with just your Printmasters and Stems at the native frame rate, in this case, 24 fps. Then create a new session (same start time) at 25 fps. Session Data Import the Printmaster & Stem tracks as new and (at the bottom left) apply SRC. In the Source, select the source as 50,000 or, (Film to PAL), Dest SR is 48, and use Tweakhead. That is the most accurate way to convert frame rates. Then in TFII do the pitch correction. I find that doing it on the stem level only, then combining that in the mix at 25 FPS yields the most transparent results. I realize it is a 2-step process, but, that so far as I know is best. THe SRC happens pretty quickly. Tom

TimeFactory II will keep the phase for interleaved files only. So, if you want everything to be in perfect phase, select all the channels you want to process, right-click, and apply "select and convert selected files".
That will create one interleaved file, which should be processed then. After it/s done, in the "result" window, export the processed file into separate channels again. The channel order will be exactly the same as it was prior to joining them. Hope this helps. p.s. make sure to chose a file format that allows for bigger file size (.wav has a limit of 4GB!) |
