Default Mbox 3 Not Working - 3 Red Lights

Hey guys, I bought an Mbox 3 when it came out in 2010. I haven't had any major problems with it, but today it just doesn't work. The input 1 & 2 lights are red, as is the +48V light. My computer doesn't recognize the device. I've tried several computers, different USB cables, etc, but the result is the same.

Has anyone else had this problem? I assume the Mbox died.

It's out of warranty, and I really don't know what to do... Do I really have to pay just to talk to Avid about a dead Mbox?

Exact same thing just happened to me. But I'm using MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.

This is driving me crazy.

Is there a way to initialize the hardware ?

Any ideas?

Funny, I just posted about the exact same thing happeneing to me in a reply on another thread. Blue lights on, so the box has power, but its not detected by the MBox control panel, or pro tools. I've tried different cables, different USB ports, and 2 different PC's and one Mac. Still absolutely no luck! I have a $500 paper weight now.. pretty frustrating. I read somewhere it was a problem with the firmware on the box getting erased or corrupt somehow. So the hardware itself is technically in working order, its the firmware that's fried. Avid will fix it.if.your under warranty. But if your past your warranty like me, your pretty much screwed. UNLESS SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOWS HOW TO RE-WRITE THE FIRMWARE TO THE BOX! Can't be that difficult.. we aren't the only 3 suffering from this issue..
