Default FINALLY a Sandra report!!! Help please

I was having problems before but the current Sis download works.

When using only a few VI's, PT9 operates best on 1 Core. To be exact I'm running a session with Sylus RMX x2 (one for the Kit on separate channels and another or Perc), NI Massive x2, Hybrid x2, and 1 pad sound from EWQL Play. If I use more than 1 Core then I get random -9128 errors... "You are running low on CPU power." Other than the random -9128 errors, PT runs fine at about 25-30% (on this session) CPU on 7 Cores. I use 128 buffer.

Surely I should be able to use 7 cores and get more VI's without this error. Please take a look at my Sandra report and tell me if something is wrong. The only thing I can think of is the video card. I recently learned that only Nvidia is compatible with PT9. Can someone confirm this before I get another card?

BTW the current video card is the cause of the 3.9 Windows Experience Index.

Thanks!

Have you tried the w7 optimizations?

Also, the i7 is 4 cores, not 7!

Yes, I did the W7 optimizations after building the system long ago. Regarding Cores, I am referring to the Cores in PT9 playback engine - should have specified that.

I don't see a problem with your hardware. Maybe the more experienced guys will see something. But I can advice you to make sure your bios is updated and that your ram timing and frequency is properly set. Check the i7 sticky for more info.

Thanks DJ. I have the latest BIOS update. After overlooking the i7 thread again I noticed the part about XMP Profile 1 setting RAM and voltage to the proper settings is gone. I followed that recommendation thinking that it set everything accordingly. I just looked at one of my RAM sticks and see that it is 7-8-7-20. Sandra says 9-9-9-24!! I guess that's a start... be back in a sec...

FWIW I ran into 9128 errors a few weeks ago and it turned out to be a cd/dvd virtual device program called "magic disc" As soon as I uninstalled it the errors went away. I realize this was a isolated case and this particular program isn't very popular, but I had to use it for a couple of files and once I discovered it was the problem, I found another solution.

Look into Ultra ISO or Power ISO. Both are great!

Changing the RAM timings stopped the 9xxx error but the CPU meter is still choking. I'm running a session with 5 patches from Structure and 1 patch from Xpand. I figured I'd just give AVID's own plugs a try. CPU meter jumps frantically between 40-55% for such a small session!!!!!! I'm officially frustrated. I followed everything on the i7 thread.

PT9 purrs all day when mixing and takes all the fx plugs I can throw at it. Just for the hell of it I took an old session with 40 audio tracks, put Digi III comp, eq, and chorus on every track, put Eleven on 7 tracks, and also put Waves SSL G Channel on every track. Ran the session glitch free for several minutes on 128 buffer at steady 50% CPU. The virtual instrument session mentioned above is a fraction of this but runs at the same CPU percentage.

It is the virtual instruments that are making my computer feel like a Pentium II and I don't know why!! Perhaps an i7 930 (awesome processor btw) is not for PT9 and virtual instruments???
