Default Connector and backshell recommendations for Digi 192 8-channel DB25 multicore DIY?

Hi guys,

I'm about to rewire whole studio with new DIY 8-channel DB25 multicore cables (Tascam pinout). Digidesign 192s to and from various gear and patchbays... For cable I'll use Mogami W2932 and Neutrik connectors.

Does anyone have recommendations for high quality gold plated male DB25 connectors and metal backshells? I prefer soldering (not crimping).

So far I found this ones:

https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-5-747912-2.html
https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-5748676-3.html

Any better ideas, especially for DB25 connector and contacts?
Any general suggestions for this kind of cable DIY and Digi 192s?

Thanks!

Suad

Unless soldering is your hobby I would suggest taking a look at proaudiola.com as they handcraft cables that fulfill my standards

I get your point. If I need one or two DB25 snakes I wouldn't bother and probably buy Mogami or AVID off the shelf products. But, here we have 20+ snakes various custom sizes and connector configurations, half of it must be soldered to 2 x 96 bantam patchbays, analog, digital, all normalled... Giving this job to pro cabling company in EU would cost decent 4 figures (maybe even 5). Doing it in US would result in 4 figures of shipping, customs and taxes

When pro-audio/bigish studio owner/engineer/gear lover/enthuziast terms come to question, pro soldering is absolute necessity for keeping it all well maintained and perfectly functional without need of third party and hope in their decent work.

Cheers!

S

You could still ask what kind of deal you would get and then consider if your manhours are worth some savings. They do whatever custom thig you need and to repeat myself I have been very satisfied with the quality.

I wired my Nashville studio with DB25 cables from Hosa and all worked flawlessly(and still is, 5 years later). Redco tt patchbay with all DB25 connections was used so no soldering anywhere.
