Default Maximize edit window

Is it possible to maximize the edit window to a point where the gray (or blue) bar at the top doesn't show?
I'm talking about the bar where the minimize, maximize and the red X buttons are. But not the ones that affect the program it self.

Thanks

GD

Not really. That is a feature of the operating system.

I don't really understand why you would want to do that, though.

Some REALLY OLD vga moniters would let you expand the horizontal and vertical limits of the display beyound the edge of the screen. I haven't seen a "Modern" moniter with this function in a while now. And like SPKGUITAR I wonder why you would want to do this? What are you trying to do? There may be a better way of doing it.

I'm not talking about the program it self.
I'm only talking about the edit window it self. I just want that frame to disappear.
The big bar line that's under the File, Edit, View etc.

The reason I don't like it is because I don't like to see two of them there. I could get more screen real-estate if I could simply maximize the edit window to a point where this bar disappears.

Other programs like Photoshop allow you to do this. If you hit the maximize button on a picture in Photoshop the frame disappears.

If you go to my site I uploaded a picture of the bar that I want to maximize.
Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't allow for enough file size for the picture to be clear but I hope you get the idea.

You're talking about fractions of an inch of "screen real estate", smaller even than a track set at "mini" view, unless you have your screen resolution set WAY too small.

Pro Tools is not Photoshop.

There is no way to eliminate the child window controls within Pro Tools. You could always submit a feature request for it, but I'm pretty sure they have "bigger fish to fry" when it comes to new features.

There are some third party applications that do this (for instance, some video card control programs), but there really isn't much to gain here, and the third party programs may (and have in the past, in my experience) interfere with normal functionality of Pro Tools.

2 solutions that might help. 1-get a bigger monitor. 2-hide some of the stuff along the top that you don't need. A lot of times, all I need along the top is the markers.

While not directly answering your question, maybe this will help your situation. If you simply want a larger waveform display, select large/jumbo/extreme in the waveform size option box at the left side of the edit window. Also, bigger monitors are great. I've recently spoiled myself silly with two 22" widescreens.

The reason for it not allowing you to remove that bar amy be because there was no real need for it, or that it's not a preferred setting. Maybe they didn't know which window people would do that with. All anyone is saying on here is that as of yet, you cannot remove the bar. And no one knows why this small insignificant bar is in your way... Though, I can see some people preferring it to be gone, like you do.

And I'm pretty sure spk was only telling you that your comparison is like comparing an apple to an orange. They're completely different programs. No need to be rude.
