PTLE8 Playback stops at end of time selection?

Wondering if someone could help? When I make a selection in the timeline, say to sort out an edit, I set that to loop playback and everything is good, but then when I disable loop playback to hear how it sits in context with the rest of the track, in PT7 I could start playback before the start of the selection and it would play past the timeline selection until I hit stop. Now in PT8 it stops at the end of the timeline selection, drives me nuts. It happens with or without dynamic transport. Is it something wrong with my system, a key command I've missed, or is it a new thing in PT8.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Mine does do that sometimes usually but when i restart the session it stops doing that.

just to be shure, you have pre- and postroll selected?

You need to de-select the part of the timeline you selected by clicking (with the I tool) anywhere in the timeline, or hit Return(goes back to zero) or a memory location.

i have the same problem since my reinstall of 7.4 after remoivng 8.0 (because it doesnt work on my AMD 3000+XP) and it's driving me insane. I will try these suggestions tonite.

Yah, I noticed this too. I drove me a bit bonkers until I figured this out. I wonder if the fact that the selection remains even though it is no longer highlighted is something new in 8, or did I just not notice it in 7.4?

Looks like I'll just have to get used to it!

When in doubt, hit the Return key as that will take you to zero AND deselect any highlighted region.
