Default Does re-initializing my drive change disk allocation?

I took everything off my firewire drive and erased/re-initialized it to do some precautionary housekeeping. The drive seems ok, but when I drag files back onto the drive, PT says my disk allocation has changed. Is this normal?
Thanks,
