"Error 0028" + "Unable to perform elastic audio"

Ah, protools..
I cannot get into my project. When I try to open it "error 0028: project does not exist" appears.
Prior to this, protools froze on me and I had to force quit. Also, a little cloud icon appears next to my project title.
> I've tried clicking on the little cloud icon, it does nothing.
> I've tried restarting my computer, and protools. Nope.
> I've tried clicking "restore last saved backup" and the same error appears.

Another problem I encounter a lot is an "unable to perform elastic audio" error. I can close a protools session, and then, when i re open it, some of my tracks have been made inactive, due to the above error. it also states that there is some track in the track list isn't elastic audio. AND THEN, sometimes, it just randomly fixes itself. So i've aided this problem by restarting protools until it fixes itself, but that is not a reliable way of recording.

One thing I have noticed, is when this happens, protools is not recognizing my scarlett.

Any one have any idea what is going on? haha. All help or theories appreciated.
specs:
Macbook pro OS X, scarlett focusrite 2i4, protools first.
