Never mind the DAVEC or Dverb test.now we have the AutoTune test
TO the OP, way too many people use AT. Sadly, it seems that singers are not .....................you get the idea.

Thatz why I never have done the Dverb test... after seeing what I could run & knowin it was kicking the HD3's arse, there was no need... As I always say, I ONLY use AT to pocket vocals... I don't abuse it like most do...

I sometimes use it, for bass and guitar if I need a quick tuning, creating new ideas/sessions. It does not work well with chords.

I try not to use it much on finished demos.

Personally, Melodyne works much better for me. I could never get my head around the graphic mode of AT.

I have never & will not use AT to actually tune a vocal.. I use Serato or even EA for that...

i use autotune often, but not abuse.

i use it on bass guitar quite a bit. just a bit of pitch correction. seems to put the bass in the pocket a bit more and not jump out where it doesnt need to due to intonation probs.

i use it on vocals sparingly. only in graphic mode and tune the section i need and typically duplicate the track and then go to audiosuite and process my settings through there. sometimes combine the pitch and non pitch corrected or just cut out the pitch corrected section i need and as minimal of a section as i need and paste it to the non pitch corrected track.

tried melodyne, just could not get into it and always had latency issues and such.

waves tune i demo'd a few times and liked it a lot. just not sure i want to spend the cash on another tuning plug. being able to export the pitch out to a midi track rocked to have a synth tucked under the vocals.

Cool Re: Auto tune

Tuning stuff is fun. LOL.

Unfortunately, it is often needed to fix, or even worse, to make "useable" an otherwise, not very usable vocal performance. It is what it is.

When I use it on less than skillful vocals, I try to approach it more from a sound-design verses "Why can't singers sing?" point of view.

I use it to create harmonies where none were before.

I do like to use it to get a rather other worldly texture to guitars and stuff. It makes them sound like outer space or something.

I did a remix lately where I laid in a bunch of E-Bow guitar parts. I then used Melodyne to tune them really tite. It was a very interesting texture.

Hope this helps.

LOL let me rephrase the original question. :P

Anyone want to share some tips, experience or things of that nature about auto-tune.

=) I just purchased melodyne 3 a few days ago. I love it.

Someone told me I should have got a "bridge" or something of that nature so I can run it in pro tools.

So far I can only use it as a stand-alone. Can't seem to figure out how to re-wire it.

Anyway, Lets start sharing Personal experience with auto tune =)
