Default PT8HD w/ PPC MAC

It looks like the only option in PT8HD with a PPC MAC is to go to PTHD 8.0.3? Is there any limitations or bugs with this cap? What are you missing by not going to 8.0.5 or 8.1?

Thanks.

Is that a solid top-out for the G5 PPC? I mean, is the system rock solid? What would I be missing by not being able to update with the later updates?

I have used PT8 LE for years and I am comfortable with it. I don't feel that there is a need to go higher than that right now considering all of the stuff going on with Pro Tools and Avid.

i don't think any version of PT has ever been considered "rock solid"!

this is simply the latest version that there is for PPC.

it certainly is useable, but I would def not want to go back to G5 now!

are you looking to go from LE to HD? have you bought anything yet?

I have been using LE for years. I want to upgrade to HD and I am very familiar with PT8.

I already have a G5 PPC that is sitting around so the price is right.

fades on the fly and the workflow is so much better than 7.4 and 8

that's when you really can fly on PT when you can not have to have the software or computer unable to keep up with your desires

I used PTHD 8.1 on a dual 2.7 without any problems, seemed very solid & reliable. Can't remember which ones, but there might be a couple plugins that work with 8.01 but not 8.1. Think it was a matter of using a newer version....

Tell that to my old G5 then. I was able to use HEAT which wasn't possible with earlier versions of 8.....
