Default Bounce To Quicktime

Hi All,

When I do a Bounce To Quicktime Movie, assuming I'm bouncing a QT and not an Avid file, does my Protools spit out the same resolution video I put in? There are no video options on the bounce so I'm assuming the video is not being changed in any way (other than embedding audio). Is this correct?

Thanks,

Charlie

In Pro Tools 8, there is now an options window for choosing video and audio settings. For older versions, hold all three modifiers (ctrl, option/alt, command/windows) and click bounce to quicktime, and the options window will appear.

The video is not being changed in any way (same codec) during a standard bounce to QT. It may be truncated to a new length, depending on the selection you've made for the bounce. The old audio track is deleted, and PT embeds a new audio track.

With the default bounce-to-QT, you get a PCM audio track.

You can get a compressed audio track via the control-opt-command-Bounce to Quicktime method. However, then you're forced to also recompress the video.

PT will use quicktime from the currently active video track. I sometimes keep a DV copy on my main working track, and a pre-compressed h.264 on an alt video track, which I activate for bounces-to-QT.
