Smile Digi 003R replacement successful

Hi guys, just wanted to leave a message to report it to the one of you who has also considered changing 002/003R hardware. Talking about the successful replacement of my Digi 003R. Because there was no way financially to make the Native HD step, I firstly decided to wait a bit longer and see as a great opportunity came in last weekend which got me to try the new Apogee Quartet.
And you know what? It´s fantastic! It has a very similar sound caracteristic as the 003R has but simply sounds so much better actually! I was really impressed as I did not expect such sound quality at that price stage for playing back, mixing, reference etc.
Here it works flawlessly with PT10.3.2 (MacOS 10.8.2), Reaper DAW, T-Racks 4 Standalone and any application on the Mac.
I dare to say, if you are not in need of lots of inputs, you need not to go for Ensemble anymore IMO.
I´m quite shure you won´t find a better sounding interface for this price and maybe a bit more; can´t hardly imagine it can be beaten by it´s competitors IMO.
Me personally is more than happy and satisfied with the Quartet and will def recommend it to everyone who will need a professional sounding interface for 1000-2000 bucks (if he doesn´t need too many I/Os of course).
Btw it sounds much better than you can hear it in the promotion videos (no idea why actually).
Anyway. Just good luck to everyone, may you get as happy with your change as I am here with mine!
The very best to you,
cheers, Volker

Default Re: Digi 003R replacement successful

Good to hear about your success with the Quartet. That was one of the units I was thinking about!

There is an RME UFX sitting for me under the Christmas Tree right now. It was a tough decision as the Apogee Ensemble, UA Apollo, and Metric Halo (The 2882 low headroom preamps were the deal breaker for me) stuff is really good too.
